I’m Tyler and I teach social media courses at NPCA. I have managed social media for dozens of small businesses teaching them how to build an efficient online strategy. I’m all about community and authenticity- which I think are the best ways to find clients! Let’s talk about some of the most effective ways to get booked using social media.

Tell people you have openings

Sometimes we get caught up in posting clients and creating content that we can come off as intimidating. Maybe potential clients feel intimidated. Maybe they are assuming you are full because you post work so often. A great way to remind people that you are ready to help them is by listing times or dates that you are available on your page. A quick Instagram or Facebook story offering appointments could potentially bring in several clients. I have personally used this strategy in my side hustle & it works every time!

Follow and interact with current clients

Stay relevant with your clients. Make them your friends. If you take the time to comment on one of your client’s posts, you will grow a better relationship with them, get discovered by their followers, and it can remind them to come to see you. Why not support your girls?

Offer a discount for a shoutout

Offer your clients a small discount to shout you out on their stories. A quick story post is valuable to you- no matter how many followers your customer has.

Find FB groups that your ideal client might be apart of

Facebook groups might be my favorite tool for finding clients and opportunities. As soon as you identify who your ideal customer is, you can easily find a Facebook group that they are in. Is your ideal customer a Utah mom in her early 30’s? There’s a group for that? Is she a younger fitness guru girl? There’s a group for that too. Once you join these groups, you can start to get to know group members and sell your services.

Instagram Polls

Utilize followers you already have by posting an Instagram poll with a question like “Who wants to learn more about PMU?” or “Are you considering microblading?” People who show interest based on their vote, turn into your leads. You can then compile a list of those interested and reach out to them via dm! You can send them freebies, discounts, information, or your schedule to encourage those leads to take the next step.

Q+A on Instagram

Host a question and answer session using one of IG’s famous stickers. I recommend being as authentic as possible in your responses and using video instead of text. Create the first few questions yourself to get the ball rolling, then answer as many questions from your followers as possible. This strategy builds trust causing great conversions and sales.

Run an ad

If you feel like your social media growth has hit a plateau, it might be time to throw an ad up. Choose one of your most popular posts and run it as an ad to try and find new followers for your page. I would also recommend making a post introducing yourself and running that as an ad. Make sure you target people similar to your current clients.

Send a welcome message in the DMS

One of my best conversion hacks is a welcome message. As soon as you receive a follow from someone, send them a semi-personal message. When I worked for a fashion company, my welcome message was something like this: “Hi, username <3 Thank you so much for following *company. We are a Utah-based small business specializing in unique fashion made for the modern woman. We’d love to welcome you to our page by offering you this 10% discount code: code here. Let us know if you have any questions!” It’s important to address your follower, make it feel natural, tell a little about yourself, and then offer them something. Often a customer will be encouraged to be more vocal with you after you have broken the DM barrier.

Stick To a Social Media Posting Schedule

If you are anything like me, posting on social media for your business or personal account can go by the wayside in our busy lives. Something that has helped me immensely is finding a time that works best for me and creating a posting schedule around that specific time. Below I walk through six steps to take to create your own social media posting schedule.

  • When Are You Most Energetic? – Figure out when you have the most energy in your day and schedule chunks of time to work on your social media in those high-energy times. For me, that’s when I first wake up in the morning. I wake up at 7 and have an alarm for 7:20 to post that reel I’ve been stressed about.

  • Record The Little Things – Record everything you do. Even the tedious tasks can be recycled into more extensive videos like what I do in a day, my favorite items, or a shopping haul. Or put interesting voice-overs on boring b-roll from your day. It works.

  • Utilize Technology – Use a planning app. Using an app that auto-schedules my posts has changed the game for me. It’s so much easier to be consistent when you don’t have to be accountable.

  • Make A List Of Content IdeasDecide which topics you are talking about and when. I like to coordinate a full monthly calendar (sometimes even a full year) that tells my client exactly what we need to be promoting and talking about each day of the year. That way, there’s no struggling or grasping for random subjects on the day of a post.

  • Remind Yourself – Set alarms. Right now, Reels and TikToks can’t be Auto published. which drives me crazy! I rely on auto-publishing to create a seamless content schedule… but because Reels and TikToks are so popular, I have to adapt. So, I do is set an alarm for when a post needs to go live and let it ring until I sit down on my phone and open the app.

  • Remember The Goals – Understand the importance of social media. It’s one of the only forms of free advertising. The investment is so low and the return is so high you’d be crazy not to make this a priority for your business.
